Save the Date: 27th to 29th June – 30th FIEP World Congress in Barcelona

The 30th FIEP WORLD CONGRESS / 14th FIEP EUROPEAN CONGRESS / 2n CONGRESS FIEP CATALUNYA will be held on 27 to June 29, 2019, in Barcelona. The motto of this congress “Sport, Physical Education and Performing Arts as tools of Social Transformation” is a clear example of the will of the event to study the transforming potential of society at the hand of all those elements that are part of our field of acting: Physical Activity, Sport, Physical Education and Performing Arts. As its name suggests, transformation is the action and effect of transforming (making something change without losing all those elements that make it up), of evolving a proposal that improves the reality of people that make it up. Under this umbrella, the proposal will revolve around four main areas of study and dissemination:

• Sports competition models emphasizing its educational dimension;
• Active cities, social capital and quality of life, reflecting on the cities of the future and the active role of citizens;
• Quality Physical Education as a transformative tool from the educational model
• Solidarity, cooperation and social inclusion with the firm conviction of generating proposals for a more just and cohesive society.

The Official Program will have the participation of prestigious international speakers in the different fields mentioned above, from which the proposal of the congress will be organized around discussion and debate tables. In addition to these central plenary sessions, there will be proposals in parallel that run through the different axes of the program. One of these proposals, and for the fourth consecutive year, will be the realization of the FIEP New Leaders program for young people from all over Europe, to propose their research work in the official competition of the contest.

In addition to the congress’s own events, the General Assembly of the FIEP will be held, the highest decision-making body of the international organization that will bring together about a hundred national delegates from different continents (Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America) where the FIEP has official representation. Following this celebration of extraordinary events will be awarded the “Thulin Award” for excellence in the field of Physical Education and Sport at international level in different categories and the prize “FIEP Catalonia”, awarded to a leading figure of the Catalan scene.
